I am Tommy Hardin and I am running for Reelection as your State Representative for District 49. I have served almost 6 years now as the State Representative and I wish to continue to build upon the knowledge I've gained, the relationships I've made and the experience I now have, to better represent the district. I am a retired Air Traffic Controller with 25 years of Civil Service. After High School I served 6 years in the Marine Corps Reserves. I was hired as an Air Traffic Controller by the Federal Aviation Administration in 1982. I worked in Midland, Austin, Houston , and retired out of DFW.

My wife Carol and I have been married for 31 years. She was born and raised in Madill. She is a Madill and OU graduate with a degree in Physical Therapy.

We have two sons, Thomas and Timothy. Both are graduates of Madill high school. Thomas is a graduate of the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. He is serving in the Army as a Captain and has completed one tour of duty in Afghanistan. Timothy graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a degree in Occupational Safety and Health. We are proud of both our sons for continuing the family tradition of serving people and our country.

Carol and I live on 140 acres south of Madill. We have allowed other family members to take over the farming and ranching while we serve the district.

I am running for reelection because I want to continue the fight to take back control of our state from the federal government and Special interest groups and with your help I believe we can do it.

I am a Christian running as a conservative Republican. I feel it is time for us to get back to the nation our forefathers envisioned.

The Federal government has overstepped it's authority and taken our rights away. It is time for state representatives who will represent the people of Oklahoma and defend our state against the Washington mandates.

The only way we will see true and lasting change is if we change our hearts and attitudes about how we choose our elected officials.

I serve the people of my church as a deacon and assist in the nursery during Sunday School. I love the children and want them to have the very best.

I believe we must keep funding our education system even during the toughest of times. We must protect our children and property by funding the police, fire and EMS. Protect these things which I consider to be the basic necessities and Oklahoma will thrive.

Our forefathers added "In God We Trust" to our currency and until we start to trust God again we will never see true and lasting change.

Thank you for your time and please pray about your vote and for our state and nation.

There are three things that we must keep funded even during difficult times because the lives of the people we represent are our utmost concern.

School Systems -
I will continue to fight for funding for education. I have sought out advice from superintendents and teachers when considering education bills. I will continue to support efforts that give back control of our schools to parents, local school boards and reduce the mandates put on our schools.

Law Enforcement, Fire Departments, EMS -
The most under appreciated of all public servants. Our very lives and property depend on these individuals so pay them well and give them the equipment they need.

By funding the above items, we will create an environment that will attract companies to our state thus creating more jobs for our people. After we get these companies here, don't tax them out of business. Companies need workers that are eager to work and learn. The greater the education level of available workers, the greater the likelihood of attracting higher paying and more technical companies. Companies need a secure place for there property and secure places for their employees to live and raise their families.

Immigration -
People entering our country legally should be welcomed. We need the federal government to enforce the current laws.

Abortion -
I am Pro-Life.

Education -
In rural Oklahoma state vouchers are not realistic. Parents should have the right to decide what their children are taught. Give control of schools back to the parents and teachers. Don't let our governments micromanage them.

Second Amendment rights -
Gun ownership is a right we can not live without.

Environment -
We must live responsibly. We must consider everything that we do to the air, water and ground that supplies what we need. Whenever possible we should look for cleaner fuels and alternative power sources. We need to develop the current technologies into more affordable options for the people of Oklahoma.

Marriage -
Between a man and woman only
